On April 1, 2017, I had the pleasure of witnessing an intense performance by Hip Hop Artist and Entrepreneur from the Westside JP Cali Smoov (hold up those dubs). What a phenomenal experience;  the entire RiverRock Lounge was lit. John Paul Misquez (JP Cali Smoov) is keeping West Coast hip-hop music alive; not that it was ever dead. His passion is just as present as any past West Coast artist.

JP Cali Smoov’s performance of his hit single, Already Hit It soared at RiverRock in Studio City. Especially relevant were guest performances who were themselves unique. JP Cali Smoov is a leading man in the ever-changing Hip-Hop industry. A champion battle rapper, earning a Lead Role, in a Reality Web Show hosted, starring, and produced By Snoop Dogg called “Take Flight On-Site” Snoopadelic Films.

JP Cali Smoov has his feet planted to success, not only as a hip-hop artist, actor, aspiring clothing designer with launching his Black Sheep Club clothing line, transforming the game his way. The demeanor of the crowd was consequently outstanding. It took me to a new level of admiration for the hip-hop movement. Sometimes people think of hip-hop artists in a negative aspect, but that is the farthest from the truth.

JP Cali Smoov most of all is an exceptional overcomer. He spent his early childhood in and out of the foster care system in Los Angeles until moving to Chicago as a teenager.  A fatal car crash took the life of his two best friends making him the lone survivor. After heart surgery from a torn aorta, broken arm, and rigorous rehabilitation, he made hip-hop music his passion. Most noteworthy, that alone should inspire anyone to take charge of life. JP Cali Smoov turned his negativity into positivity. It seems he found the ability, determination, and aspiration to move forward. Hence, watch and see what he does next.
